Paintball Sporting Safety Tips

Paintball is a fast-paced and extreme sport, most of all the game is fun. Like all sports, an informed player can help make the game safer. In fact, safety is one of the most important parts of the game.
G.I. Milsim has complied a list of helpful tips and tricks to help make your paintball sporting day the best, most enjoyable and safe day.
Equipement
- Keep your face mask on at all times
- Invest in full face protection desgined specifically for paintball sporting.
- When not in-game be sure that your marker has the safety on. Keep your marker in the off position when not playing the game or taking a break from play.
- When not in-game barrel condoms (or barrels plugs) should be safetly in use.
- Markers should be chroned under 300 FPS, or the limit set by the field or tourney you are playing at.
- Never look down the barrel of a marker. Always assume your marker is loaded.
- Always be careful when unscrewing a tank from a gun. If you are unsure or the fittings are not moving, stop and seek the assistance of a trained professional.
- Don't try to take your tank apart to repair it, seek assistance of a trained and qualified person to do it.
- Replace your goggle lenses as needed, never play with lenses that are cracked or broken.
- Keep your tank current. Be sure it is up to date (Hydro Date) and you are using a tank with the correct test for the area you are playing in. TC for Canada, DOT for USA, PI for Europe.
- Never use a tank that is damaged
- Leave alterations of your equipement to trained and qualified professionals.
- Never overfill your air tank.
- Always use approved water-soluble paintballs in your marker. Do not attempt to fire foreign objects from your paintball marker.
- Velocities have a tendency to fluctuate throughout the day, it is advised to chronograph your marker several times each day during play.
- Many markers will fire even after a CO2 or high pressure system is removed from the gun. So, always wear goggles when working on your marker - even when the air source is removed.
- Markers should be transported and stored uncharged and unloaded.
- Remove all power sources before disassembly of a paintball marker.
- Pressurize your paintball devices only when you're ready to use them.
Health
- Always stretch before starting any physical activity
- Have water on hand to replenish fluids.
- Drink often, even if you don't feel thirsty
- A good breakfast or meal an hour or more prior to game play will provide you with energy needed to participate in paintball sporting.
Game Play
- Don't handle, play with, load, use, or shoot a paintball marker while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Keep your marker & tank out of the direct sunlight when not playing.
- Remember, Co2 expands when heated.Never shoot someone at close range in friendly play.
- Never shoot someone with your barrel touching them directly aganist their body.Never fire your marker in the safe zone.
- Keep any firing to areas where all participants have paintball approved eye protection.When you are eliminated from the game, raise your hand and quickly walk off the field.
- Be sure to call "out" as loud as possible.
- Do not remove your goggles until you are safely back into a safe/neutral area.
- Don't stand in the open for too long during play.
- Always reload your marker or catch your breath from behind a tree or bunker.
- The velocity of your marker can fluctuate throughout the day, it is advise to chronograph your marker several times each day during play.
- Never shoot at another person with the intent to cause injury or harm.Do not shoot cars, homes or other items with painted or finished surfaces.
- The paintballs are non-toxic but can discolor or dissolve painted or finished surfaces.
Items you may want to bring for your paintball day
- Gloves
- Shoes or Boots that have ankle support and can run in
- Long sleeved shirt or hoodie
- Long pants or sweat pants
- Camouflage clothing
- Bandana or neck protector
- Change of clothes
- Paper towel or microfiber cloth
- Spray bottle
- Bug spray
- Sun protection lotion
- Food & Drinks
- Smiles!
